A phrasal verb consists of at least two
elements: a verb and a particle, e.g. a
preposition, adverb or reflexive pronoun.
Together they form an entirely separate
meaning from the original verb!
Take a look at the verb “komme”, which means
three completely different things when paired
with “til”, and “an på” and “seg”

Norwegians use these phrasal verbs all
the time without thinking about it.

And to make matters even worse, some phrasal verbs can even take on multiple different meanings!
For example if we add a place or “somewhere”, “komme seg (et sted)” suddenly means “get somewhere”!

understand this?
